ORIGIN

The founder of Nurdle, Joshua Beech, was in his final year at University, when he decided to escape the stresses of revision by venturing to the nearest beach – Whitsand Bay in South East Cornwall. Nothing could’ve prepared him for the sight that he saw.

“Billions of micro plastic nurdles washed in
with every wave.”

It was the most shocking environmental issue Josh had ever seen, and it was only 10 miles from his home.

FROM IDEA TO REALITY

As Josh learnt about the scale of the issue it became increasingly apparent that we needed more and more tools to tackle microplastics.

Nurdles ideas of cleaner beaches became a reality, we developed the hand powered Trommel for small scale cleanups and the Basking Shark machine, towed by a quad bike, for the largest microplastic and nurdle problems. We partnered with Karcher who provided us with micro-vacs too, which were a much needed addition to our array of tools!
But we always wanted to turn this once deadly pollution into something beautiful.
