Introducing Our Newest Machine
MEET THE NEW SCREENER
Built in response to the Camber Sands biobead crisis, The Screener is Nurdle's newest addition to our fleet, a purpose-built vibrating screen designed to separate microplastics from sand in any weather, at scale. It's now on the beach and working daily.
The Machine
HOW IT WORKS
The Screener uses a specially designed vibrating screen to lift biobeads and other microplastics out of sand. An excavator feeds material onto the top of the unit, and the vibration separates the plastic from the sand beneath.
Unlike many other cleanup methods, The Screener works in all weather conditions, rain, wind, or shine, meaning we can keep operating through the British winter and respond fast when pollution is detected.
The Screener In Action
SEE IT AT WORK
Watch the screener in action on the beach, separating biobeads and microplastics from sand in real time.
Every shake of the screen lifts more plastic out of the environment and brings us one step closer to a clean coastline.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Screener is now working the beach daily. Our target is to screen an average of 25 metres of coastline every day, steadily working through the contaminated zones until the sand is clean.
It's methodical, persistent, and it's exactly what the beach needs. We'll keep going for as long as it takes.
HAVE YOU SEEN POLLUTION?
If you've spotted biobeads, microplastics, or any other coastal pollution, let us know. Every sighting helps us respond faster, and direct our team to where they're needed most.
